Your First 30 Days in the UK
The foundation tasks of your first month, in order, without information overload.
When this helps: Newly arrived, or a 30-day roadmap has just been generated
What you end up with: A written order of your first-month tasks and what each one unlocks.
Time: about 20 minutes
Week one
- Make sure you can prove your immigration status online, on demand.
- Save the email and phone number attached to your UKVI account somewhere safe.
- Learn the three scam patterns that target newcomers before anyone contacts you.
Weeks two to four
- Open a UK current account you can be paid into.
- Apply for a National Insurance number if one has not already been issued to you.
- Register with a GP surgery near where you sleep.
What to write down as you go
- Every reference number you are given, with the date.
- Anything that was refused, and the exact reason given.
- Anything you could not finish, so it becomes a blocker instead of a silent gap.
